There are all sorts of reasons other tour operators or agents might be able to sell you the same flight for significantly less money. As the airlines have the best view on the current state of bookings, they're more inclined to keep their seat prices higher for routes where they know they're likely to sell out with high demand for last-minute reservations (this is especially true for popular business routes). The best way to ensure you're getting the best deal is to compare flights for your chosen route using a site like Cheap Flights, which has access to deals from airlines and tour operators. Checking both will give you the best shot at saving money. John ID2264 - • When packing, put items (or even entire outfits) in large zip lock bags. There are some even larger than gallon-size bags available in the storage section of most stores. They keep clothes dry, protected, and make it easier if a search is necessary. • Adding a dryer sheet to your suitcase provides a fresh scent. • I also recommend putting a copy of your flight itinerary in your carry-on in case of lost ID or lost luggage. • I have black luggage, but last trip got some bright acrylic craft paint and painted a symbol in obvious spots. I had no trouble spotting my luggage! (anything simple would work ... hearts, circles. Even x's). Allison Poteet ID2280 - When you're packing travel-size toiletries for a flight, make sure you shop around. You'll often find that different shops have different ranges of products, often at widely varying prices. You may not be able to find everything you need in one place at some smaller shops. Also, consider buying your travel size toiletries online, e.g. at www.travelsize.ie. Mick Hayes ID2288 - In 33 days, I recently went to 12 destinations. In those 33 days, I spent my time going to Los Angeles, a small town called Solvang, San Diego, Austin, Houston, Hong Kong, Singapore, Perth, Brisbane, Gold Coast, Melbourne, and Sydney. It sure was an adventure and I just want to give you one tip. Don't forget to do an online check in via the Internet. It helped me a lot. I was traveling with a big family throughout the trip and we always got good seats that were not separated from each other. For more information about seating positions, you could go to www.seatguru.com. It's very good and I recommend it. Josh ID2202 - I find that a combination of several common tips goes a long way toward preventing flying problems, or at least making them more tolerable. I go with one carry-on, make sure it's a little smaller than the minimum size, bring my own food and drink onto the plane, bring at least one good book if not two, eat in the airport before the flight, and get to the airport a little early. I've never had to check a bag, and I've never had missing or damaged luggage. I've never been bored during flight delays. I've never been hungry or thirsty on flights. A little preparation goes a long way.
