When traveling a long way, there's no need to purchase a lot of expensive digital camera film. At different points, take your film to a local photo store (or Wal-Mart), have your photos put onto a CD, and place them in an inexpensive CD holder inside the fireproof safe ... you can delete the photos from the digital camera and start over each time.
