They tell you what is proper and improper socially, religiously, politically, dress codes, manners, etc., in many different countries. For instance, some things are okay for men but not women. When I'm almost finished with my meal, I place my credit card on the table. Most servers are attentive to what I mean, and after the obligatory offering of dessert they run my check. When they return I'm finishing up and can sign and leave. 24-Dec-2002 Bob McConnell ID1434 Would You Like to Add a Travel Tip?We welcome QUALITY travel tips from our users.Note: you will be required to enter the characters from a security image, so please make sure that you have your browser set to view images.
