Salisbury House, Seattle, Washington 18-Dec-2003 Salisbury House, Seattle, Washington ID659 - Look up the emergency numbers of the country you go to. You never know what may happen, and if you have the emergency numbers handy you will have a chance for quick help! 21-Apr-2001 Bettina Vlot ID41 - When planning to write friends back home from another city or abroad, create mailing labels on your computer. Not only do they come in handy on the trip - but for holidays as well. This saves space for an address book. Also, use an extra check register for keeping up with your travel purchases. Start with a budget and charge (or spend) down to a zero balance. This keeps track of purchases as well as questions asked by customs. 1-Jan-2000 Alibia de Vente ID625 - To maintain your weight when dining out, plan ahead and make smart choices. Most chain restaurants post their menus and nutrition content online, so do your research and make your selection ahead of time. Don’t even open the menu when you get there; you might be tempted to deviate from your well-intentioned plan. If you can’t get any nutrition information, be specific when placing your order: Skip dressings, sauces, cheese, coffee creamer, and other high-calorie, high-fat items. Order salad dressings on the side - and rather than pouring it onto your salad, dip your fork into the dressing and then spear your veggies. You’ll get the flavor without the calories. Cut portion sizes by ordering a to-go box with your meal, and immediately put half of the meal into the box - even if you have no intention of eating it. Finally, always carry healthy snacks with you for those times when you’re stranded at the airport or on the road. Try raisins, nuts, all-natural granola bars, apples, no-sugar-added dried fruit, and similar items. More tips and information are available at Healthy Travel Network - your source for travel fitness and health. 19-Feb-2006 Karen ID1899 - Before travelling photocopy passport, credit cards, driver's license, vaccination certificates, even airline tickets and travellers' cheques. Keep the copies with a friend at home who has a fax machine. I had all my documents stolen on the last day of a trip to North Africa and had my secretary fax my passport copy to the Embassy - who were able to issue me with a full replacement passport in 24 hours, instead of 7 days! You can always travel with a second set of photocopies - but pack them separately from your passport etc.! 1-Jan-2000 Michael Evans ID633 Would You Like to Add a Travel Tip?We welcome QUALITY travel tips from our users.Note: you will be required to enter the characters from a security image, so please make sure that you have your browser set to view images.
