  • Mosquito Net Accessories
    - When travelling to destinations that require you to take a mosquito net, don't forget to take some string or twine (or spare shoelaces) and a couple of small screw-in hooks. If there is nothing handy to tie the net to, the hooks only make tiny holes that don't show when you remove them.

  • Name Tag 'Etiquette'
    - For the name tags on your bags, you can use your destination on the tags if you don't have a business card. Use your last name and first initial, the hotel name, the hotel number, and the city you are going to on the tag. You should also place this information on the inside of the bag with your itinerary, and another phone contact of a family or friend that can give specifics on how to contact you. Believe me when I say this helps to get your baggage to you faster. Placing something on the outside of the bag, and knowing a good description of the items in the bag, can help with identification if the outside tags are off. I have iron-on patches from all the places I have been with the bag on mine. Make sure you know where your tag stubs are when you check in; you need these also to make finding the bag easier.

  • Nobody Likes to Go Through Dirty Washing
    - Always pack extra carrier bags. These take no space, but you can use them as and when you need them to carry your dirty washing then hide away your valuables in the bag, as many robbers do not look in them!

  • Order Special Meals in Advance
    - Order free low-fat or special airline meals at least 24 hours before your flight.

  • Packing Checklist
    - I don't know if this is a common practice among other people, but I am the only one I know who does this. At least a few weeks before your trip, write out a list of things that you think you'll need and want to bring along on your trip. Giving yourself more than a few days before the trip to plan what you'll bring will ensure that you won't forget anything important and give you time to add or elminate things on the list. Also, when you are ready to re-pack to come home, you can check off your belongings on the list to make sure that you haven't left anything behind - and, oh yes, do make a list of new things that you have aquired as well. You don't want to forget your new things!
