But check that you are fully covered by insurance. Hiring a slightly older car can also save a great deal. Jenny McLean ID98 - A good alternative to classic guidebooks is to use self-guided audio tours. If a tour is produced in standard MP3 format, you can play it not only on an MP3 player, but on any computer, PDA, and most newer mobile phones. If you plan to visit Bratislava, capital of Slovakia in Central Europe, the only available audio guide is available at Bratislava Audio Tour. Brano ID2090 - If you want to buy posters and prints in the location you are heading to, I suggest taking a tube like architecture students use to carry plans in. I'm a university student, and I found these big black plastic carrying tubes at my university bookstore. They are cheap, and sturdier than the cardboard tubes you get at the post office. They don't take up too much room, and you can stuff them with small items for the trip over. For the trip back, you can mail the tube home ahead of you to make room for more goodies! Lauren Nelson ID198 - If You Are From the United States: If you aren't changing all your Dollars to the currency you need overseas before you leave, make sure you have the new American bills with you. Many overseas banks will no longer accept the old $100s or $20s due to conterfeiting. Dorie Budde ID640 - Instead of only photocopying all your important documents and carrying them with you, scan everything and e-mail the scans to your e-mail account as attachments. Use a free e-mail account such as hotmail.com so you can access your documents from anywhere in the world.
