I'm a university student, and I found these big black plastic carrying tubes at my university bookstore. They are cheap, and sturdier than the cardboard tubes you get at the post office. They don't take up too much room, and you can stuff them with small items for the trip over. For the trip back, you can mail the tube home ahead of you to make room for more goodies!
