  • Ask to See a Permit
    - When deciding which adventure guiding outfit to choose, make sure they have permits to operate in that particular area. Do not be afraid to ask for a copy of their permit - as it is your right to do so.

  • B&B Questions
    - When you call a B&B remember to ask them:
    1. How big the room is - many Victorian houses have small rooms
    2. If the bath is 'down the hall' - how long is the hall?
    3. What time is breakfast? If you are on vacation, you don't want it to be 7:30 a.m.!

  • B&Bs in the Country
    - Those of you that plan on staying at a B&B need to look for B&B's in the country, because you will learn so many things about life that you can never learn from staying in the city. You will learn about animals and farming first hand, in some cases where milk comes from and how animals can be great pets also. Most people will find the country is also very quiet and peaceful. A B&B in the country will be an experience that you will not forget!

  • Backpacking - The Ultimate 'Culture' Experience
    - For many people, especially students, backpacking is the only way to travel. It gives one the chance to really experience the culture of the countries being visited, whether it's Europe, Australia, the Americas, or Asia. Understandably, when planning a backpacking adventure, the first thing most travellers do is think about where they want to go. But arranging decent travel insurance is also crucial. Why? Think about what can happen while you're abroad. Hopefully it'll be an adventure, but you'll be visiting strange places where you may not even speak the language.

  • Be Oranized with the Paperwork
    - Hole-punch all of your information for your trip (and make copies of anything you'll need), organize it by what you'll need chronologically, and place it in a slim, bright, lightweight soft-side plastic binder. It's very easy to find in your carry bag, and you can easily flip through to find your itinerary, the address of the hotel you're going to, the phone number of the person you're supposed to hook up with, etc.
