3 4 5 [Next] - If you are planning to visit Kathmandu, Nepal, don't forget to bring enough masks, as dust pollution in this city is very high. 20-Apr-2008 Ahmad Kamruzzaman Majumder ID2074 - In Beijing or any foreign country where you change money at the airport Bank Of China, beware of a group of 2 or 3 thieves who are waiting behind you, ready to take off with your luggage if it is on your wagon while you are busy with the transaction. These individuals are usually the ones who stare at the ceiling when you try to make eye contact with them. 16-Jun-2001 m grunberg ID262 - As a tall, fairskinned redhead, I am an obvious tourist. On the plus side, I get a cab within seconds just by stepping to the curb. On the negative side, it is assumed I am a rude, obnoxious American. Koreans are very touchy about the American military presence and will often assume you are connected with the military - be unfailingly polite everywhere you go! Being polite and soft spoken will get you far. The shopping is fabulous (and cheap) but while I was there I was embarrassed by the number of Americans loudly arguing with merchants about prices that were already less than half what we would pay in the U.S. Remember you are a visitor in THEIR country and you are a representative of your own country. 4-Jul-2001 Kyra Achee ID276 - If you backpack around Thailand and other Asian countries, remember to take toilet paper with you. Usually you won't find it in the toilets. 7-Aug-2001 Martin V ID310 - If you want to find a good family beach resort near Bangkok, then Hua Hin is definitely worth considering. Just over 2 hours by new highway from Bangkok there are pleasant beaches, and a good range of accomodation from cheap to truly expensive. Shopping is very cheap, even compared to Bangkok. Lovely restaurants and fresh sea breezes. It is also great if you have kids along as this resort seems not to 'allow' some of the night-life things you could come across in other resort areas. Very charming small town, but all the big hotel names are there, Hilton, Marriot, Sofitel, Dusit, Regent etc. Excellent golf courses too. 12-May-2001 Toni Chengson ID207 Would You Like to Add a Travel Tip?We welcome QUALITY travel tips from our users.Note: you will be required to enter the characters from a security image, so please make sure that you have your browser set to view images.
