If you want to avoid big masses of tourists and enjoy empty beaches and even more, relaxed ticos and ticas (that is what the Costa Ricans call themselves) choose the local wintertime. This is from approximately June to September. You may experience a little rain (2-4 hours a day), but it's still warm and fine. And the best thing is: The Caribbean side is mostly sunny during this time, and there are fewer travellers. Enjoy your stay! 21-Apr-2001 Michael Koerner ID42 - Thinking about traveling with your family to the Caribbean? You should look into going to The Bahamas. Don't let this put you off ... just remember that a friendly smile and a polite 'no thanks' will almost always work. Jamaicans are, as a rule, a friendly and polite people, and respond to same. 1-Jan-2000 Sea Palms on the Caribbean, Ochio-Rios, Jamaica ID1140 - If you are traveling to the Caribbean after a hurricane has been there, check with the tourist board or individual hotels before planning your visit. The island may have sustained damage, and your accommodations may not be what you expected. 22-Apr-2001 Trish Porterfield ID161 - If one parent is planning to visit Mexico and is taking a minor child, remember to get a notarized letter from the other parent granting permission for the child to travel abroad. Save yourself hassles and heartache! Submitted by Anne Hudson: If one of the parents is deceased, you will also need a death certificate for that parent.
