  • Pack Pepto Bismol

  • - If travelling to Mexico from the U.S., be sure to bring Pepto Bismol with you. If you take two teaspoons of this before each meal, the chances of you getting Montezuma's Revenge [diarrhea] is minimal. I followed this for 5 days of our trip and decided that I wasn't getting sick so didn't need to take it. I stopped taking it and 2 days later had the revenge! I have also had doctors recommend this.

  • Pack TP

  • - This may seem a tasteless tip, but it is very important. Always carry a roll of tissue paper in your vehicle. Not all restrooms are equipped with this very essential item.

  • Relax and Enjoy

  • - When you're vacationing in a country like Mexico, expect things to take a bit longer than usual. Remember that you're on vacation and not in a rush anyway. We have a saying at our hotel: 'Mañana doesn't necessarily mean tomorrow!' Relax and enjoy.

  • Take Some Gifts for the Less Fortunate

  • - Many regions in the Caribbean (as beautiful as they are) are poverty-striken. Be a good Samaritan and pack school supplies (pens, pencils, erasers etc.) for the children. In Cuba, for example, each student is given one pencil, and it is expected that the pencil will last the entire year. Cosmetic products are also hot commodities that many cannot afford. (Shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste etc.) By sharing the things that we take for granted with those who are less fotunate, even if you didn't have the greatest vacation, you know you helped someone feel a little richer than they did before you arrived!

  • Tip for Costa Rica Airport

  • - Costa Rica's Juan Santa Maria airport has been remodeled and enlarged. It is very nice but busy. Once you clear customs, do not let your bags out of your sight.
