Have a let's see what happens attitude, especially when visiting the islands. Travel agencies in Athens do not know ferry or bus schedules to go anywhere. If you want to take the ferry to the Ionic islands take the Patras ferry; if you want to see the Adriatic islands go to either Pireus or Raffina. The bus schedules can only be found at the bus depot. Nice or budget hotels in the islands are not listed in the hotel books (found at travel agencies in Canada). You'll find out for yourself when you get there.
