- When you arrive in Ireland, buy a callcard at a newsagent. They can be used in the phones that don't take money (called cardphones), and you won't have to figure out the change to make the call. A card can be bought in many different denominations. The units on the card don't equal the price, and there is a display on the phone that tells you how many units you have left. Eject the card before the units run down and insert a fresh card - the call continues.
