2 3 [Next] - Beware of cunning Gypsies in Milan, Italy. We were in line to see Da Vinci's Last Supper when a female Gypsy approached a women in line and shoved a newspaper at her, covering her fanny pack. She was hollering and trying to get the woman to buy the paper, which was obviously old and used. While this was going on another Gypsy was busy unzipping the fanny pack and trying to remove the woman's wallet. Luckily we saw what was going on and warned the woman. The Gypsies just moved on down the line and tried it again! Barbara Grier ID1109 -
Linda ID552 - Maybe many of us come here only after a negative experience. Me too. While travelling from Rome to Milan on a night train I got my laptop stolen. When reported to police it seemed it was a usual affair and there was little they could do. What actually happened is that some suspicious guys were there around the compartment I was and just minutes before arriving on the station they sprayed something to make me unconscious - and when I got back, my bag was stolen along with all the documents, etc. Police say hopefully they will mail me the documents. All these laptop thieves do that. Maybe ... hopefully. Shashank ID269 - When traveling in any part of Italy, carry a local newspaper or place one in the dashboard of your car. Even if you don't look 'Italian', thieves and purse snatchers will be less likely to rob you. Also, speak as quietly as possible to your counterparts if you don't speak Italian, so you don't seem like a tourist. Devon ID1578 - In Italy - train tickets are available at the local Tabachi (tobacco) shops. You do not need to go to a railway station.
