- If you travel to Venice, stay somewhere outside of Venice. (It's cheaper and the quality is equivalent). I stayed at a Comfort Inn in Quatro d'Altino. It was roughly $45 a night. The rooms were just great! The train ride is beautiful to Venice, plus we were able to explore other towns like Verona, Treviso, etc. Alan ID249 - When arriving at Rome airport or train stations, be sure not to accept car passage offered by unauthorized drivers. You can easily recognize them, as they constantly whisper 'Taxi, Taxi'. They are usually located at the main exits, and can charge you a fortune! You should use authorized cabs only (yellow or white ones, with a short phone number on the front doors - so-called 'radiotaxi').
