- I am currently unemployed. It's been a bit stressful - my wife encourages me greatly in this area - BUT she also informs me 'Do not tell our guests that you are not currently employed'. In other words, do not pass your stress on to your guests!!! Be cheerful!!! 4-Aug-2005 Emerald Pines Refuge ID1313 - It's great to get support from other B&B operators, but if things are stressful for the operators too, it's sometimes even better to go for lunch with someone who is far removed from B&B's and get another view of life. Wyndswept Bed and Breakfast, Jasper East, Alberta, Canada 1-Jan-2000 Wyndswept Bed and Breakfast, Jasper East, Alberta, Canada ID1314 - Stress! Yes, we innkeepers have stress, don't we?! I have a Victorian chalk slate that I hang on our private quarters that says, 'gone soul searching. On our guests' arrival tour I explain that if that sign is hanging on the door, I'm away from the Inn for a short time. They probably think I'm grocery shopping or at some other menial place ... but my 'soul searching' place is my favorite antique mall just down the street. Antiquing relieves stress - It's a fact! Try it ... I guarantee you'll enjoy it! 18-Dec-2003 Ambrosia Rose Inn, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma ID1312 - Go for a walk down your driveway; water your flowers outside; go into your area of the house and play solitaire on the computer. You don't have to babysit the guests, and often they like quiet time too. Burnout rate is high operating a B&B; look after yourself. Don't give up your nice master bedroom and sleep in the attic or basement while the guests have the nicest part of your home.
