Book a villa/condo where you will actually stay rather than through a travel brochure that illustrates the type of property you could stay in. The best option is to book directly with a home owner or a property management company. 2. If searching for a Florida vacation rental, use sites like www.rentfloridavillas.co.uk to obtain detailed information about the property. 3. Create a short list of properties. 4. Check the proximity of the property to places that you plan on visiting; e.g., attractions, local convenience shops, and eating places. 5. Speak to the owner/management company over the phone and not just by email. Although not conclusive, it will help to form an impression of the owner or management company. 6. Find out how you will obtain the keys to the property. Usually, they will be posted to you, stored in a lock box outside the property, or you will have to visit the property management offices. 7.
